On this tour you will take a walk through an ancient English garden designed by, Alessandro Papafava, architect of the Villa located on the hill in the heart of the park.
The tour continues inside a monumental complex of artificial caves excavated over seven years of work. The stone that constitutes them comes from the nearby Montemerlo quarry, and all the boulders were expertly placed according to structural logic of highly advanced engineering so as to recreate a seemingly natural environment that today, more than a hundred years later, still exists, and is immensely impressive.
The guided tour ends inside the 18th-century villa; a severe neoclassical building to this day still furnished with antique furniture used by members of the Papafava family until the late 2000s.
