The d'Annunzio Rooms
A guided tour of the rooms where Gabriele d’Annunzio stayed during his time at San Pelagio castle, preparing for the Flight Over Vienna on 9 August 1918: a propaganda mission involving releasing thousands of leaflets over the Austrian capital, an idea devised by d'Annunzio. The rooms have been restored using archive sources and are fully open to visitors. They contain many mementos of the life and times of the soldier poet, along with furniture from the Zaborra family who have owned the castle since 1752.
