The artist Alfredo Dal Santo, born in Cinto Euganeo but now an Este resident for many years, in 1981, in search of a more creative expression, rekindles his youthful passion for ceramics and opens the artisanal workshop "Ceramiche Marcuzzo" in Este (now Dal Santo Ceramica & Design), where he still produces and decorates various objects and furnishings, also seeking in craftsmanship to explore the language of art.
The most recent works abstract from chromaticism, using the color inherent to the material as a linguistic element. The clays, the earth, and the engobes relate directly to the sign and the topological composition of the work, shaping an ancestral chromatic balance. In this intimate journey, one can encounter suggestions that evoke memories of works by artists such as Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, Henri Matisse, and Massimo Campigli.
The works of Alfredo Dal Santo vibrate in search of a balance dictated by the laws of nature and his profound human feeling. The earth seems to willingly accept the artist's works and signs, which are tense and precise like his tireless path of research and maturation.
The artisanal company “Dal Santo Ceramica e Design,” with a workshop and sales point in the historic center of Este, has now become part of the historical tradition of Este ceramics. As mentioned, established in 1981 as Ceramiche Marcuzzo, a sole proprietorship of Alfredo Dal Santo, it now looks toward the future, exploring new fields in design and furnishings with the collaboration of his son Giacomo, who combines the artistic tradition imparted by his father with a more modern attitude towards design acquired during his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Verona.
In today's production, two paths proceed in parallel: one purely artisanal and one more artistic, which often intertwine to offer a unique and high-quality product.
