Chiesa di San Giorgio

Location: Due Carrare

L’attuale chiesa parrocchiale di Carrara San Giorgio, dedicata a San Giorgio è stata edificata nel 1948 ad un’unica navata, con i mattoni ed altri materiali murari provenienti dal campo d’aviazione di San Pelagio, qui sorto verso la fine della Grande Guerra, dopo la ritirata di Caporetto e che i tedeschi hanno poi riadattato per la loro aviazione leggera nel secondo conflitto mondiale. Nel suo interno è custodito il corpo di San Clemente, dono del papa Clemente XIII e si può ammirare una bella statua in bronzo di San Giorgio col cavallo. Si trovano anche due statue opere di Antonio Bonazza, gli arcangeli Michele e Raffaele. Il campanile è del 1912 e in paese si dice che è stato costruito con le uova, vale a dire con le offerte in natura, perché la popolazione del tempo solo così poteva contribuire alle spese per la sua erezione.
