Castles and Villas Tour in the Euganean Territory
Price from: 10.00€
During the whole tour, you will be pleasantly accompanied by an Italian and English tourist guide, to discover the beauty and culture of the landscape.
First, we will visit the Villa dei Vescovi which represents a truly extraordinary case in the rich panorama of Venetian villas: it has preserved over time the ancient relationship with the surrounding landscape.
Built between 1535 and 1542 on an embankment of the Euganean Hills as a holiday home for the Bishop of Padua, the Villa was built by the Veronese painter-architect Giovanni Maria Falconetto, under the direction of Alvise Cornaro.
Since the beginning, the villa hosted a large circle of humanists, whose thought left an important mark on Italian culture.
Furthermore, we will visit the Castello del Catajo, not an ordinary castle. Over the centuries, it has been a villa, a ducal palace and an imperial palace, headquarters of splendid and unforgettable parties. The Obizzi family, captains of fortune who descended to Italy in the retinue of Emperor Enrico II, built the Castle in 1570. They designed the Catajo as a majestic abode with representation and self-celebration purposes, also thanks to the splendid pictorial cycle that Gian Battista Zelotti, the favorite painter of the nobility of Veneto, realized.
Scheduled return to the meeting point.
