We are in the verdant heart of the Euganean Hills Natural Park, close to the famous spa towns, the oldest thermal spas in Europe, a unique place with so many opportunities for learning and leisure.
An archipelago of volcanic islands, of steep slopes interspersed with green valleys, with the ideal exposure to the sun and a combination of sedimentary and volcanic rocks that is unique to the Euganean Hills, creating the soils that give us such vivacious, refined and enjoyable wines, as well as high quality olive oil.
This bike tour is ideal for couples or small groups of friends and includes a visit to two vineyards with tastings, allowing you to learn how the volcanic origins of the Euganean Hills influences the wines that are produced in this region.
You will have the chance to taste wines such as the sparkling Serprino, Chardonnay and reds such as Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and the DOGC Fior d’Arancio, a wine which is unique to this area. You will meet young wine makers and wine experts who combine ancient, traditional expertise with innovation, along with a deep respect for the vines and the region.
Your bikes and map will be provided to you at our office and, once the route has been explained, you will be ready to set off!
Along the route, you will have the chance to see magnificent castles, beautiful villas and religious buildings. Don’t forget your camera for the perfect photo of these volcanic hills!
At the first vineyard, you will have the chance to enjoy a guided tasting of white wines paired with traditional local produce. The tour continues to the mediaeval village of Arquà Petrarca, passing the magnificent gardens of Villa Barbarigo in Valsanzibio along the way.
You will have the chance to explore Arquà, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, and enjoy lunch in one of the local wine bars.
Back on your bike, you pass the UNESCO World Heritage Site of La Costa lake, before reaching Battaglia Terme, an ancient river port offering spectacular views such as the sight of Catajo Castle. At the second vineyard, you will have the chance to taste red wines, paired with regional produce, before then returning home.
